MARCH 2023 TEACHER OF THE MONTH

I’ve always known I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. My teachers all throughout elementary school to college were just outstanding and inspired me every step of the way. I aspire to be the teacher that they all were for me. The kind that you can look back 20 years later and still remember things they did for you. I graduated from Misericordia University, where I got my degree in early childhood education and special education. I am teaching at Wyoming Valley West Middle School in the 8th grade learning support classroom. (Alongside two incredible teachers/mentors that I would be remiss if I did not give them credit for getting me to this point in my teaching career. That is Sara Whalen and Marissa Sholtis.) I always pictured myself working with younger kiddos but now that I am working with 8th grade I can’t see it any other way. I am a very high energy teacher (with a large theatre background) so in my class, we like to (or maybe just I like to) make up songs or dances to help remember lessons. I am so lucky to be where I am at in my teaching career at such a young age, and I can truly say I enjoy going to work everyday.
