The Cure is moving ahead with a substantial amount of new music following the release of Songs of a Lost World. Robert Smith recently revealed that the band has completed work on a second album and is preparing to submit it to their record label.
The announcement comes after a productive recording period that generated enough material for multiple releases. Smith explained that the group recorded a large collection of songs during the same sessions, allowing them to shape more than one album from the project.
The completed follow-up is expected to continue the creative direction explored on recent recordings. At the same time, Smith said a third album is also in development. That project is expected to take a different musical approach, offering another side of the material created during the sessions.
The Cure returned with Songs of a Lost World after a lengthy gap between studio albums. The release was welcomed by longtime fans and marked a major moment in the band’s catalog.
With a second album finished and a third taking shape, the group appears set to remain active in the coming years, giving listeners more new music from one of alternative rock’s most enduring acts.
